DGF: Toasts, Stephen Schwartz's 70th Birthday

Join the Dramatists Guild Foundation on April 23 at the Hudson Theatre as we celebrate Stephen Schwartz’s 70th Birthday with a star-filled concert dedicated to Stephen and his beloved songs, stories, and legacy. Watch as Broadway’s best toast Stephen for his commitment to the craft and the community with show stopping performances from across his four-decade repertory of songs.

Directed by Scott Schwartz with music direction by Andrew Lippa, the concert will include special performances by Tony, Grammy and Academy Award-winning composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan HansenLa La LandThe Greatest Showman), Tony, Grammy and Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken(Little Shop of HorrorsThe Little Mermaid); Tony Award-winners Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen); Rachel Bay Jones (Dear Evan HansenPippin); Patina Miller (PippinSister Act); and Laura Benanti (Gypsy); Darren Criss (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime StoryHedwig and the Angry Inch); acclaimed soprano Renée Fleming(CarouselLindsay Mendez (CarouselWickedGodspell), Alex Newell (Once On This IslandGlee), Michael McCorry Rose (WickedA Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder), Corey Cott (BandstandNewsiesGigi), Casey Cott (Riverdale), and composer Matt Gould (Invisible Thread).     For over 50 years, the Dramatists Guild Foundation has supported playwrights, composers, lyricists, and bookwriters to, in turn, support the creation of new work for the American theater. Through Traveling Masters, DGF provides free writing classes and workshops around the country; through Fellows, up-and-coming writers gain professional experience and forge relationships with seasoned mentors; the Music Hall provides free space and equipment for writing; and grants fund writers and their projects. Alumni of the Foundation’s many programs include Tony and Oscar winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Tony winner Jason Robert Brown, Pulitzer Prize winner Paula Vogel, and many more.

  • DGF Elects New Vice President Kevin Hager

    The Dramatists Guild Foundation Board of Directors is proud to announce it has just elected Kevin Hager to be its new Vice President. Mr. Hager is the Managing Director of Understood.org and Vice President and Chief Digital Officer of the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD).
