Paulo K Tiról was a corporate professional, liturgical/choral composer, and musical theatre superfan in his hometown of Manila, Philippines, before moving to Boston in 2012 to study at Berklee College of Music. He went on to attend NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program on a full tuition scholarship, as a composer; and the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop, as a lyricist. Current projects: music and lyrics for On This Side of the World (Access Theater, May 2019, presented by Three Hares, directed by Noam Shapiro); book, music and lyrics for Called; and orchestrations for Felix Starro (Ma-Yi Theatre Co., opening off-Broadway this Fall). His songs have been featured at Joe’s Pub, NAMT’s Festival of New Musicals, Prospect Theater Co., and more. He is thrilled for this opportunity to be a Filipino-American, Asian-American, and immigrant voice in the 2019-20 class of DGF Fellows. www.paulophonic.com.
