James A. Tyler

James has a MFA in Film from Howard University and a MFA in Dramatic Writing from New York University where his concentration was Playwriting. He’s won a Paul Robeson Award and a John Golden Playwriting Award. His 10-minute play Hand Held Out was produced in a reading series presented by Israel Horovitz at The Cherry Lane Theatre titled Ex-Lovers Readings. His play Some Old Black Man starring Arthur French had a reading at La MaMa as part of the Shadow Festival last February. His play You’re Sitting in the Dark was a 2013 O’Neil Playwright’s Conference semi-finalist.
